With the 25-year anniversary celebration of the care bears, they have been really getting a lot of attention at online auctions and trade shows. Most of the vintage care bears can be picked up for a reasonable amount of money, while some that are in mint condition can be very valuable.
What is so unique about collections of care bears, is that it is not only the bear itself that brings value. It is all of the other items that were marketed that make it possible to complete full sets of everything for each bear. Some of the most popular items that were made along with the care bears include bedding, sleep wear, toys, ornaments, lights, clothing, books, costumes and all kinds of other items that allured people into loving the care bears.
There were millions of care bears sold in only a four-year period from 1983 –1987. With that high of number of bears in production, it is a relatively easy thing to start a collection of.
The fame of the care bears was hard to pass up. The adorable little bears had their own cartoon series and appeared on so many items and advertisements, it was nearly impossible to avoid them and not fall in love with them.
They seemed to symbolize caring and love, and surely any recipient of one felt comforted and loved. Maybe it was how soft they were, or maybe it was what they represented, but whatever it was that made them so popular, it is bound to lead to a high number of collectors building their collections.
